Jerry Seinfeld Makes Cameo In Vampire Weekend's Dizzying 'Sunflower' Video

After over a month of anticipation, Vampire Weekend dropped their "Sunflower" music video on Wednesday (March 13). Before the song was even released, New Yorkers spotted the band's frontman Ezra Koenig hanging out at Zabar's with Jonah Hill, which raised the question: Is the actor filming a VW video? And the answer is, yes. But that's not the only surprise the east coast indie rockers had for us. The clip, which stars Koenig and The Internet's Steve Lacy (who's featured in the song) shopping at Zabar's and dining in Barney Greengrass, The Sturgeon King, also includes a seemingly random cameo by Jerry Seinfeld. As hardcore VW fans know, though, his inclusion was absolutely intentional. The band loves Seinfeld so much it dedicates a weekly slot in its Instagram schedule for "Seinfeld Sunday."

Hill took an interesting approach to the visuals, incorporating split screens and tilting the camera every which way to create an interesting, albeit dizzying, perspective. Watch the "Sunflower" video below.

"Sunflower" and its counterpart "Big Blue" are the latest offerings off the band's upcoming album, Father of the Bride, which is slated to come out on May 3. In January VW shared the first batch of songs—"Harmony Hall" and "2021"—and is expected to drop one more two-song package before the record's release.
