Channel 7 News Anchor Alaina Pinto Says She Was Fired Because Of Movie Role

Via Boston.com. Last year, ya know, before everything shut down, Adam Sandler came to Salem to film a new Halloween comedy, "Hubie Halloween." A lot of local people got a chance to work on the film, but for one person, it looks like it cost her a job.

WHDH-TV Channel 7's morning news anchor Alaina Pinto tweeted yesterday that she was fired because of a cameo role in the flick. She wrote: "Earlier this week I was let go from 7 News. I am posting this because I want to be open and honest with all of you. Last year, I participated in a cameo in the recently released Netflix movie by Adam Sandler, "Hubie Halloween". In doing so, I mistakenly violated my contract with the station and I understand why management unfortunately chose to terminate me. I am deeply disappointed and saddened, and I hoped this would not be how things evolved."

Sounds kinda harsh, doesn't it? Was it because she dressed up as DC Comics bad girl Harley Quinn? In Sandler’s movie, Pinto plays a news anchor for a fictional Boston TV station, Channel 4 Morning News, and leads its morning show, “Wake Up, Boston." Maybe they would have big ratings if she delivered election news dressed like this.

She said, “Thanks to all my wonderful 7 News viewers and my supportive and great colleagues at the station. Reporting the news to you every morning was an honor and a privilege.”

"Hubie Halloween" is streaming on Netflix.
